First things first, let's talk requirements. You're gonna need to be able to smash out a ridiculous number of pull-ups, push-ups, and abs.


We're talking at least 20 pull-ups, 100 push-ups, and 150 abs.


Yeah, you heard us right. That's why we recommend doing those bad boys until your arms, chest, and abs feel like they're gonna explode.


And that's just the warm-up.


Next, you gotta show us what you got in the running department.


You'll need to run a mile and a half in under 10 minutes to even have a shot at making it through selection. So, lace up your sneakers, get your playlist sorted, and start pounding that pavement.

  • At least 65 sit-ups in two minutes

  • At least 5 pull-ups, no time limit

  • 5-mile run in 40 minutes or less


But that's just the beginning. Once you make it through SFAS, you'll move on to the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC), where you'll face even more grueling physical challenges.


Delta Force


Delta Force selection is shrouded in secrecy, but we do know that the physical fitness requirements are no joke. You'll need to be in top shape, both physically and mentally, in order to even have a shot at making it through. Some of the physical fitness requirements you can expect include:

  • 75 push-ups in two minutes

  • 80 sit-ups in two minutes

  • At least 15 pull-ups, no time limit

  • 2-mile run in 13 minutes or less


Special Forces


Last, but certainly not least, we have Special Forces selection. You'll need to be a well-rounded athlete in order to meet the physical fitness requirements for this elite force. These requirements include:

  • At least 50 push-ups in two minutes

  • At least 50 sit-ups in two minutes

  • At least 6 pull-ups, no time limit

  • 2-mile run in 15:12 or less


But as with all special forces, these are just the minimum requirements. You'll need to be able to perform at your best, even when you're tired, hungry, and under extreme stress.

Delta Force, which is officially known as the 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, has rigorous physical fitness requirements that include a 2-mile run, push-ups, sit-ups, and pull-ups. Candidates must also complete a 4-mile timed ruck march while carrying a 45-pound backpack, and a 5-mile run while wearing combat boots and carrying a rifle.


Special Forces, which is officially known as the United States Army Special Forces, also has strict physical fitness requirements. Candidates must pass the Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), which includes push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2-mile run.
